Samuel W. Cooper Park

History

This park was dedicated October 18, 2005 and named to honor longtime civic and community leader Samuel W. Cooper for his many years of dedicated service to the community. Located at 900 East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, the 11 acre area contains an 8 acre lake which was developed to help prevent flooding in the Lincoln Park community.   A lighted 0.6 mile paved walking trail with benches wraps around the scenic lake setting.

Samuel W. Cooper Park was designed by Professional Engineering Consultants of Orlando, Florida and was funded by the:
  • City's Community Redevelopment Trust Fund
  • City's Water and Sewer Fund
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program
