This July, it’s Game On at Plant City Parks & Recreation!

Month-long celebration highlights the fun and games of local parks and recreation

Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and explore the great things happening at your local parks and recreation centers. This July, join in on the fun and enjoy local parks and recreation programs with the City of Plant City Parks & Recreation Department as they celebrate Park and Recreation Month.

Park and Recreation Month is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), inviting you to get in the game. With everything from recreation center special interest classes, neighborhood parks with playgrounds to enjoy a picnic in, and larger parks with athletic fields and walking trails, there are plenty of ways that you can celebrate with us!

Parks & Recreation Director Jack Holland stated “July is the perfect time to highlight all the benefits that parks and recreation provides, not only here in Plant City, but regionally and statewide.  Our local parks and recreation programs directly contribute to increased community health while benefiting our community economically with visiting tournaments and increased property values.”

Park and recreation services are vital for our communities, from protecting open space and natural resources, to helping fight obesity and providing activities and resources for all walks of life.  Park and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the exponential value parks and recreation brings to communities.

While there are many programs to be involved with each summer, the keynote July activity for Plant City is the annual July 4th Celebration, being held at Plant City Stadium on Independence Day.  The event is co-hosted by the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce and the City of Plant City and is made possible by financial and in-kind contributions from our area businesses and civic clubs and is a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday.  Event information is available at www.plantcitygov.com/parksrec

Come out this July and get your Game On with the Plant City Parks & Recreation Department!
