Program Details

To participate in this voluntary program, citizens can have a blue bin delivered to their home by calling 813-659-4222 and provide:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number

An 18 gallon recycling bin will be delivered within 5 working days. You may also come to the Solid Waste Division at 1802 Spooner Drive and pick up a blue recycling container at no charge. Curbside pick up is one day per week. For pick up dates, please call the Solid Waste division.

Residential Customers can recycle the following items in their blue bin (DO NOT PLACE RECYCLING IN PLASTIC BAGS):

  • Aluminum cans
  • Plastics bottles and containers
  • Milk, juice and both cartons
  • Cardboard
  • Newspaper and office paper

Recycled Item Preparation

When wet or dirty items are placed in the bin, they spoil the entire load. This means none of the items can be recycled.

  • Cans should be emptied, rinsed and dried
  • Insides of plastic containers should be rinsed out and dried. No lids please.
  • Cardboard should be flattened, dry and clean (no greasy pizza boxes, for example)
  • Containers may not exceed 40 lbs

Items commonly placed in bins that are NOT accepted:
Plastic bags, dirty food containers, clothes hangers, batteries, light bulbs, sheets of glass, electronics, clothing, diapers, cords, wires, hoses, styrofoam, dishes, pans, ceramics, mirrors, fake plants, children's toys, patio furniture, rubber items.
Commercial customers may be eligible to obtain a six cubic yard cardboard recycling dumpster at no charge. Call 813-757-9208 for more information.
