View information regarding Building Permits Temporary Closure

The City of Plant City will be temporarily suspending its Building Department walk-in customer service operations at City Hall beginning Tuesday, November 17, 2020.  This temporary suspension of walk-in operations is necessary while the City makes improvements to our customer service and employee areas to better comply with social distancing guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  The City expects to return to normal walk-in operations on January 19, 2021.

Customers can still reach the Building Department via phone at (813) 659-4200, online at plantcitygov.com, and by e-mail at bldgemail@plantcitygov.com.

How do I apply for a building permit during this this temporary closure?

The Building Department will continue to serve customers seeking building permits through email and an offsite Plans Drop Box.

Email

Applications that do not require plan submittal can be emailed to bldgemail@plantcitygov.com. Please include a permit application, which may be found on our website, and any other pertinent documents and diagrams required for application intake.

Applications requiring a plan review may be submitted using our Plans Drop Box.  The Plans Drop Box is located inside the main lobby of City Hall, which is located at 302 West Reynolds Street.  When submitting plans to the drop box, please include two sets of signed and sealed plans, along with any other information or documents that are required in the intake package.  You will also need to attach your contact information, to include a telephone number and email address.  Individuals who have submitted plans via the Drop Box will need to email the Building Department at bldgemail@plantcitygov.com to ensure the plans have been received.

How do I pay for a building permit during this temporary closure?

After plans have been submitted and the intake process begins, you will receive an invoice via email with a link to pay the Plan Review Fee (this email will come from an unmonitored email, do not respond to this email). Please note that your plans will not be processed for review until payment is made.
