Requesting Records

Police reports and supplemental materials can be requested from the Records Unit either in person or through a signed letter of request.If you are submitting your request by mail, make sure that your request includes:
  • Daytime contact phone number
  • Mailing address
  • Check covering the cost of the requested items
Records are released according to the Public Guide for Law Enforcement Agencies, which outlines the Florida State Statutes relating to Public Law. If you have any questions regarding copies of public records, please contact the Records Unit during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 813-757-9200, ext. 2226.

Report Copies Except Accident Reports $0.15 per one side copy or $0.20 for 2 sided copies

Traffic Crash Reports
Fingerprints $5 per fingerprint card
Local Records Checks $3 per subject, regardless of results
Photographs (4 by 6 inches) are $4 each, (8 by 10 inches) are $7 each
Polaroid Photographs $3 each
Certified Copies $1 per copy certified
Tapes (micro or full cassette) $4 per tape
Videos $10 per video
CD's $10 per CD
Vehicle Inspection Fee $4 per citation / registration
Hourly Fee for Research $12 per hour
