Services and Billing
The Sanitation Division provides refuse service to more than 1,000 non-residential customers in Plant City. Running seven trucks per day, up to six days a week, the Sanitation Division picks up and disposes of more than 14,000 tons of commercial refuse per year.
Commercial garbage and rubbish collection charges appear on your monthly utility bill (water, sewer, garbage). For billing information, please contact the Utilities Billing Department at (813) 659-4222. Plant City does not operate a landfill. All refuse must be picked up at the customers location and taken to approved landfills for disposal.
Curbside Service
Garbage and rubbish pickup is on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday depending on your location. For information on when your scheduled pick up dates are, please contact the Sanitation Division at (813) 757-9208. To be sure your receive prompt curbside service, please follow these guidelines:
- Commercial garbage and rubbish must be put in plastic bags with a minimum of 1.5 mil. thickness or placed in compactor bags. The bags can not exceed 30 gallons capacity and when full, can not exceed 50 lbs.
- All free liquids must be drained and bags must be sealed with a twist tie, tape, or other fasteners.
- All garbage and rubbish should be set out no later than 7:00am on the day of pick-up and placed at a central location near the front of the property.
- A maximum of three bags are allowed per pick-up. For more than three bags, a charge of $1.47 per bag will be added to your monthly utility bill.
Refuse Bins
Refuse bins are provided by the City for commercial business customers. The Dumpsters are available in two through eight cubic yard capacity. If you have a commercial business and need Dumpster service, please call (813) 757-9208 or submit a letter of request to:

The letter should include your business address, capacity of Dumpster required, number of pick-ups required per week, and the date you would like the service to begin. Commercial establishments, excluding "and residences", apartment houses, and trailer parks served by municipal automatic loader containers will be charged $7.15 per cubic yard container capacity for each collection.
