On Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2:58pm,the Plant City Police Department received a holdup alarm call from Sunshine State Federal Bank located at 102 W. Baker St. Plant City.
Upon arrival of the first officer on scene, police were told the suspect(s)fled the area in a silver Volkswagen Passat. Officers checking the area located the vehicle at N. Frankin St.and W. Baker St. When the suspect(s)saw the police officer behind him he exited the vehicle and fled on footrunning north from the traffic stop.
After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was subsequently caught and taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as Henry Kennedy Evans,(25) of 4311 5th St.,Zephyrhills, as the person who walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.
Evans was charged with one count of Bank Robbery and Resisting Arrest. He was also arrested for an outstanding warrant for bank robbery from Pasco County on the previous day. The undisclosed amount of currency taken from the robbery was recovered on the suspect.
Evans was transported to Hillsborough County Jail for booking awaiting his first appearance. If anyone with information regarding the bank robbery,they are asked to call the Plant City Police Department at 813-757-9200.
